Our Mission
Student loan debt is one of the most stressful financial burdens a person can carry. Most borrowers do not fully understand what they owe, what they will pay in total, or how their choices affect their financial future. We built StudentLoanCalc.net to change that โ one free, accurate calculation at a time.
The Student Loan Problem We Are Solving
Student loan debt in the USA has crossed $1.7 trillion, affecting over 45 million Americans. In the UK, total student loan debt exceeds ยฃ206 billion with over 8 million borrowers. Despite these enormous numbers, most borrowers never calculate the true cost of their loans until they are already deep into repayment.
The average American borrower does not know their exact monthly payment until their first bill arrives. Most UK graduates have no idea that their monthly repayment is income-linked and that many will never repay their full loan. This information gap costs people real money โ wrong repayment plan choices, missed refinancing opportunities, and unnecessary financial stress.
StudentLoanCalc.net exists to close this gap. Every calculation is free, instant, and requires no sign-up.
What Our Calculator Does
We built a single comprehensive tool that handles every major student loan scenario for both USA and UK borrowers:
Our Values
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Every formula in our calculator has been verified against official sources:
- Standard amortization formula โ verified against the Federal Student Aid loan simulator at studentaid.gov. Results match to within $1.
- UK Plan 2 repayments โ verified against the Student Loans Company (SLC) official calculator. Results match to the penny.
- IBR and SAVE plan calculations โ verified using the official 2025 federal poverty guidelines and the 10%/5% discretionary income formulas from the US Department of Education.
- Unsubsidized loan capitalization โ verified against FSA official examples including the 6-month post-graduation grace period.
We review and update default interest rates at the start of each academic year when the US Department of Education publishes updated federal loan rates.
Important: This tool is for educational and planning purposes only. Always verify your exact rates and terms with your loan servicer before making financial decisions.
